Herbert Park Croquet Club : the Beginning.

 Herbert Park Croquet Club was officially opened on 16th of June 1987 by Bertie Ahern who was then the Lord Mayor of Dublin. This was the outcome of an initiative by the newly formed Croquet Association of Ireland (CAI). In 1986 Fred Rogerson, representing the CAI, and Michael Solomons obtained the agreement of the Parks Department of Dublin City Council that they would convert two of the grass tennis courts into a croquet lawn and so the Club was founded subject to certain conditions such as payment of an annual fee. A second lawn was added later.

Herbert Park Croquet Club is fully affiliated to the Croquet Association of Ireland

and enjoys close ties with other clubs in Ireland and abroad. Including;

Newbridge House Croquet Club

Carrickmines Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club

Rushbrooke Croquet and Lawn Tennis Club

Its a universal truth that nothing spoils a postlunch game of croquet like suspecting the other players of murder.
